“Thank you Countrywise” from Sandcastles for Lloyd, part of the Campaign Against Living Miserably

Posted On : 01/10/2018

Last month we donated a signed Lincoln City FC jersey to a charity auction evening to raise funds for Sandcastles for Lloyd, which is part of theCampaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

The shirt was signed by the first team and it raised £150 for this worthy cause. The event and various other initiatives helped raise a total of £6,101.

The Sandcastles for Lloyd event was held in the small town of Wragby, which is between Louth and Lincoln, and the annual event is in memory of Lloyd Cochran who sadly took his own life at the age of only 22.

CALM is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, which is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. Its goal is a “life less miserable”.

Every day on average 12 men take their own life in the UK and three in every four suicides are male. Of men under the age of 45 in the UK, more than four in 10 have contemplated taking their own life, but fewer than half of these men told anyone how they were feeling.

Only 55 per cent of men who’ve experienced depression will tell anyone about it, compared to 67 per cent of women.
