Last month Britain basked is one of the hottest September’s since records began with the mean temperature of 14.8C being the second warmest on record, behind first-place 2006 (15.2C) and just in front of 1949 (14.6C).
According to the Met Office, the hottest day of the year was recorded on September 13 when Gravesend in Kent baked in a countrywide high of 34.4C; it was also the warmest September day in Britain since 1911.
September’s Indian summer also saw the mercury rise in our sales office in Hull where we sold an all time record of 17,283 bottles of water, that’s around 33,000 litres of water!
Another piece of weather related news form last month was that the BBC director general Lord Hall pledged to restore Hull to the BBC national weather map in time for the city being the UK City of Culture 2017.
